Spiders

Hannah has three bites on her ankles and the doctor says, she thinks they are spider bites. Poor baby's ankles are swollen, red and hot...not to mention they are itching and hurting her. It's terrible when your baby is in pain and there isn't much you can do to help her feel better. She's had benedryl, tylenol and now an antibiotic in addition to having hydrocortizone cream put halfway up her little leg. None of which has given her much relief. We have no idea where she got the bites, she just woke up with them this morning. The doctor thought one ankle looked like it was getting infected so she was going to treat it like it was. So hopefully the antibiotics will help it start to clear up and they will look better tomorrow. Tonight I gave her a cool bath...I felt mean for not giving her a warm relaxing bath, but I was afraid the heat would make the inflammation worse. She seemed to have fun though after I told her it was a swimming pool bath and that she could pretend she was swimming. Once she sat under the faucet that was just barely warmer than the rest of the water and said, "oh, dat peels so dood!" To make matters worse, ever since she woke up with the bites, I have felt like bugs were crawling on me all day!! I'm ready for a bath myself!

The Baby Bed Part Deaux

Hannah actually went to sleep in her baby bed this afternoon. And she slept there for a good hour and a half...I had to wake her up because it was getting too late for a nap. What was even funnier is that she fell asleep with her Snoopy "glasses" on.

For the most part today was a lazy sleepy day. It rained here most of the day so we didn't get out of the house even once. We watched movies all morning and most of the afternoon then I decided that I would work on cleaning mine and Joey's room...that was fun let me tell ya! And we actually had dinner at home. So our day was less than normal. I'm not much on staying home all day long, I rarely watch t.v. and I even less often clean my room and as you know we usually eat dinner out. Hmmm...I think a Wal-Mart trip is in order. It's sad when your entertainment involves a Wal-Mart run!

The Baby Bed

So what are the chances? Today Hannah decided that she wanted to sleep in her baby bed...never happens! So I cleaned her baby bed out (it was full of stuffed animals)knowing full well that it wouldn't last, but she insisted. She actually laid in there for about 30 minutes before she decided that she was ready for the normal sleeping arrangement...her in the bed with someone else. Anyway I decided that I would take a few pictures of her in her baby bed tonight because I knew that I had some of her when she was very tiny in there and I wanted to compare them.
So I started looking around for the pic when she was smaller and I found it. Would you believe that the 1st picture was taken on this very day...three years ago. I think that is kind of weird. But...you can see how much she has grown in the past three years. She once fit in less than a quarter of the bed now she fills almost the length of it. And...it seems like yesterday when we took that first picture of her...they grow way too fast!

Today was Hannah's Uncle Wayne's birthday and when we went shopping for him, Hannah picked out a gift for him all by herself. She got him a little horse, a monkey and a pig. Then of course she had to have a horse and a pig that were like Uncle Wayne's. So...Happy Birthday Wayne, hope it was a good one!

Today...

So Joey made it to Paris and is due to take off to Douala in a few hours. Seems like he's been gone for weeks and it's only been one day. He had a whole day in Paris and was able to tour the city. I think he is having a good time despite being tired and nervous about the unfamiliar surroundings. I think I will feel a little better once he gets to Africa and meets up with his dad. Something about him being an ocean away and all alone makes me a little nervous. He said that once he gets there he is supposed to be preaching at a teen camp...not sure how that works there, but that's what he's been told he will be doing part of the time. Hmmm, I wonder if the camp food there is any worse than the camp food in the U.S. Haa haa...it's probably much worse, but I wonder if the kids there feel the same about camp food as our kids do. Should be interesting to hear about.

As for Hannah and me, we didn't do anything exciting today. We had to go downtown to the medical center for some routine bloodwork for myself. Hannah talked or sang the entire trip...well except when the nurses tried to get her to talk to them!! Strange how that happens. Anyway it wasn't just that she was vocal the entire time, but also that her vocals were so loud! She doesn't get that from me!!! Definitely something she inherited...or learned...from her father!!!

To Africa And Toothpaste!

This is where our daddy is right now (well, at 10:15PM anyway). He is on his way to Paris then on to Duala...in Africa! He is on a 2 1/2 week mission trip with his dad and we miss him already. Hannah keeps asking me, "do you want to doe to Aprica?" Soooo, what are we going to do for the duration of daddy's trip. Hmmmm, I think we should shop, have lunch, go swimming and get our nails done! Just kidding...well, sorta...I'm sure we'll manage to do some of that while Joey is gone, but I'll try to control myself.

So tonight Hannah walks in the room holding the toothpaste...eating it! Not good, I know! So I tell her not to eat toothpaste that it has things in it that she doesn't want to get too much of. I put the lid back on the toothpaste and told her to take it back in the bathroom and put it away. She took the toothpaste and gave me that "but I will when you're not lookin'" look as she turned toward the bathroom. As she is walking off I told her, "don't open that back up and eat more of it...I CAN see you always!" She turns around and looks back at me and with a looks at me and says, "but you tan't see me in Leigh Anne's bathroom!" (insert sly grin here)!!!

I just want to know one thing...where does she learn these things?

Tan We Doe Bubbling?

Uncle Wayne and Aunt CeCe got Hannah bubbles for her birthday. Not just any bubbles, a huge bubble thing. I'm talkin' 3 foot bubbles! Hannah has wanted to play with it ever since her birthday, but every time we thought of it, it was late at night or we were going somewhere or something like that. Well we finally got them out yesterday for her and she loved them. She cried when it was time to come in. I asked her if she wanted to go somewhere with me and normally she would have instantly come running. Not yesterday, she was staying home with daddy to do bubbles! This morning when she woke up the first thing she wanted to do was "doe bubbling!"

We finally gave in and took her outside in the heat to do bubbles. If you notice in the pictures, our tomatoes aren't doing so great. They apparently don't like the heat anymore than I do. I guess I really should water them more, but I can't stand being out there long enough. Anyway back to the bubbles...Hannah loves them and says, "dantyou untle Wayne and aunt CeCe!" Here are a couple more pictures for your enjoyment.

Lucky Charms

Hannah has a new thing that she likes Lucky Charms cereal. The odd thing is that she doesn't care for the marshmallows in there. So tonight she had a bowl of Lucky Charms and you know that you will do anything (no matter how silly or ridiculous) for your kids when you find yourself standing at the kitchen counter picking the marshmallows out of a bowl of cereal! "Dantyou," she says! Well, she ate about half of the cereal right after I fixed it for her then came back for the rest later. I guess she has never experienced, in her 3 years, soggy cereal because when she came back and ate another bite of it she looks at me and says, "it's spwishy!" I wish I had had the camera then because the look on her face was priceless! It was that "I'm not sure this is right and even if it is, I'm not sure I like it, I might want to spit this out, but that might get me in trouble" look.

Speaking of eating...the other night we went to eat at the Olive Garden. I guess someone had a little too much pasta and didn't quite make it to the restroom in time. Hannah's Mimi was going to take her to the bathroom and upon returning rather quickly to the table announce that someone had tossed their cookies er pasta...whatever right at the front door! Hannah again had a priceless look on her face when she proclaimed, "someone prew up!" I think this was probably her first exposure to such a thing. She had a stomach virus once when she was tiny, but she was too little to even realize what was happening then, much less remember throwing up. Anyway, why I thought you might enjoy reading this ... I'm not sure, but I have now chronicled Hannah's first encounter with public puke! Sorry, but you could've stopped reading anytime!

Hannah The Snowman

First of all let me just get it off of my chest...I HATE SUMMER! I can not stand this heat. I can't breathe in these temperatures. So doing anything just flat wears me out! I'm seriously thinking about how soon I can get to bed because I am so tired. And that is so not like me. I like to stay up until 3 or so in the morning, but I'm dang tired and it's from the heat. Alaska sounds great 'bout now! And I desperately need to clean my car out...I still have VBS things in there and yesterday we spilled a half gallon of diet coke on the floor, but I can't even think about being out there long enough to clean my car out! AUGH!!!

O.k. rant over for the moment. So Hannah had an early bath tonight...as I am thinking of bed time already. She got some bubble bath at Walmart today and she was very excited about taking her bath...so she's already had it. When she was in there she stood up and proclaimed, "I'm a no-man! I'm tovered in no! Oh, I need a hat." As she puts a pile of bubbles on her head. "Dere, dat's a doooooood hat!"

So in the last post I said that I was probably going to get Hannah's 3 year pictures taken and would post them as soon as I did. Wouldn't you know that as soon as I said that she fell and bumped her head! You can see the bruise in this picture. She was walking behind me at church the other night and somehow tripped on her sandal, got carpet burn on her knee and bumped her head on a chair leg! Poor baby! So as soon as her bruise goes away, we'll go get the pictures.

The Bestest Thang

Tonight I cleaned all of the toys from the church nursery. To do that I fill the whirlpool tub up with hot water, add bleach and turn the whirlpool on. To rinse, just drain, add clean water and turn the whirlpool on again. It's really great because you have cleaned all of the toys in one batch and you've cleaned the tub at the same time! Less work that way! Hannah was watching me put all of those toys into the tub and squealed in delight, "you're the bestest...you know what the bestest thang is Mama?" "What," I ask.

"All dose toys!"

Not Much Going On

Well, we haven't been up to much lately...well, much that is worth talking about anyway. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day I will get around to getting Hannah's 3 year old pictures made and when I do I will likely post some of them. We've pretty much been taking it easy this week. Maybe we'll do something exciting in the next day or so! ...oh, and I need to charge the batteries for the camera!

Hostess Things

Tonight Joey was eating a Ding Dong and I asked Hannah what her daddy was eating. She said, "a ding bell!" Isn't that funny?!?!?!

Happy Birthday, Hannah!

My baby is now three years old. It is hard to believe that on Sunday it was 3 years since she made her debut! Joey always remarks that when she was born her eyes were wide open. They stayed that way for two hours after she was born as if she was taking in all that she could in the world around her. In three years she has gained some 21+ pounds and grown some 15+ inches. And that was just at her last doctors appointment...I'm sure she's grown more since then! Her vocabulary has gone from nothing to probably 800+ words and she speaks in complete sentences. She has grown 20 teeth and a lot of hair...well compared to a year or so ago! She once wore premmie clothes and now dons 2-3T's. She is now potty trained and wants to brush her own teeth! She has gone from a diet of milk only to eating chips and salsa as an appetizer to chicken quesodillas (sp?)! She knows where most of her body parts are and is working on which is left and which is right. She sings whole songs by herself and she counts to ten (skipping 7 every time!) It's hard to believe that she has grown so much in so many ways. I am happy that she is developing the way she should, but I am very sad that I no longer have an infant...I have a pre-schooler.

So...Happy Birthday, Hannah! Always remember that no matter how big or old you get, you'll always be my favorite girl!

Here she is tonight playing with a couple of the things she got for her birthday. Kind of reminds me of the movie "Footloose"! I have some video of her birthday, but will have to post that later when I have a chance to upload it to the computer.

Back To Normalcy...

Well, VBS is over and we are back to our regular schedule. We have been extremely busy the last couple of weeks and VBS nearly ate my lunch, but once again I will start posting more regularly. Hopefully when Hannah wakes up from her nap I can get a few pictures of her to post and I will give some details on the last couple of weeks since we have had two birthdays and lots of other things happening.

The funny...and maybe not so funny things Hannah does!

Location: Texas, United States

I am the stay at home mommy of Hannah. In addition to taking care of her, I take care of her daddy. Joey, my husband is the pastor at our church and that means that I have to be on my best behavior most of the time!! Actually I'm probably not, but I do try so so hard! Especially at church, but that's only because I'm usually sitting on the front pew!
