Ballet & Tap Class!
So I typed this entry on Thursday night, but it has taken me this long to get the video cut and edited.
We finally got to go!!! Hannah had a lot of fun. So did I...And I was rather surprised at how well she did. Now when I leave her in the church nursery, she fusses! She wants to stay with me...or rather she wants me to stay with her! She likes going, but she wants me in there with her. So I was a little concerned that she wouldn't go into her class, but she was so excited about the class that she went right in, talked to her teacher and participated! As we were leaving she even remarked that she, "wanted us to leave her there!" There were a few times when she did her own thing, but for the most part, she was cooperative. I was pleasantly surprised because she has never really gone into a class where she was expected to participate and receive instruction.
There are two other little girls in her class...and I must say that I didn't ask the other mother's if I could put their pictures here so if you happen on this blog and one of the girls looks like your child...uhm...it's not. We live in a different city!!! Uh yeah, we live in a different city! :+/
Also, I am rather proud of myself for condensing the video and pictures that I took into an 5 minute movie. Her class was 45 minutes long and I video taped a lot of it, so getting it to 5 minutes is pretty impressive, if I do say so myself! We also have a long (11+ minutes) version, but dropshots will only allow me to have a 5 minute video!

Wow, today was a big day! We went to Bible Study this morning and Hannah got to play with her friend, Billy. Which she thoroughly enjoys every time! Then after the Bible Study we were trying to decide what to do and came up with the idea of going to the zoo. After the zoo we went up to the hospital to see my little cousin since we were literally just around the corner. So...Hannah woke up earlier than usual this morning...9:20 or so and since we were busy at the zoo all afternoon she didn't get a nap. Imagine the charmer she was at dinner. Yeah, that was fun. Note to self: when the child wakes up earlier than usual, takes no nap and has more activity than normal in her extra long day...the drive thru could quite possibly be the most appropriate alternative to dining in. To go would probably even work! I just love it when people stare at you in a restaurant as if to say, "control your child, please!"
So we went to the zoo and Hannah had a blast. I...like a dummy...didn't remember to grab the camera when we stopped by the house on the way so there are no pictures to post. Sorry! But, had I taken the camera you could have seen her in the petting zoo (she wasn't fond of this activity...a little too close for comfort), she also played on a jungle gym, crawled through tunnels like a prairie dog, looked at a pig and called it Wwwuuiiiilllllbbbuuurrr and rode a merry go round...all in addition to looking at all of the other animals outside of the children's section. So to say we are tired...well, that's an understatement. So...off to bed I go!
Oh, and...on Thursday Hannah gets to go to her dance class...and I get to go watch!!! I'm so excited!!!!!

Ladies & gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family...Jack Frost (name actually chosen by Hannah)! That's right, we got Hannah her first pet! I don't think she was impressed at first because the first thing out of her mouth was...and I quote, "eeww!" She warmed up real fast though. Within a few minutes she was smiling and laughing at it. Although when I stuck my hand in the bowl to move some of the rocks around she said, "eee, don't let him bite you!"
For now Jack Frost is sitting on her little table and she has been in to "check" on him several times. "Oh, my fish is waitin' for me to check on him," she'll say! We'll see how long he lasts on the table, but for now that's where he's going to stay. Hopefully he'll make it. She's been warned about putting her hands (although I don't think I have to worry about that...the biting thing, you know) or anything else in the bowl. I'm a little afraid she'll try carrying him across the room or something though, but she has been told not to do that either...we'll see! He may end up on top of the fridge!
We've had quite the weekend. In addition to Jack Frost, I've gotten Hannah signed up for dance classes. She'll be in ballet, tap and creative movement...whatever that is. She is soooo cute in her little leotard and tights. ...And the ballet slippers and tap shoes are to die for! I am so excited...I think maybe more than she is...but she is pretty excited too. Very soon we are going to get her picture made in her little dance clothes. I say little because they are so little...the smallest size they make in everything. She is adorable in them. If she only takes one class and decides she doesn't like it...I don't care it was worth the money just to see her in that outfit! But truthfully, I have a feeling she's going to love it. I CANNOT
wait until Thursday!! Videos and pics to follow soon!!! Aren't you excited!?!?!?

Hold Your Breath Again...
me dunk her three times today in the bathtub! This morning I asked her if she wanted to go under again and she promptly grabbed her nose and stuck her face in the water. Then she wanted me to go all the way under so I layed back and went under. Which she found hysterical. When I came up I asked her if she wanted to go under like I had and she said, "yes." I told her to take a big breath, close her eyes and I held her nose and mouth and dunked her baptism style!!! I kinda surprised myself that I actually dunked her, but she came up laughing every time. But...I must say that she'd better learn to close her mouth a little better! I had my hand over her nose and mouth so she didn't get water in there, but I could feel that her mouth was open every time! I'm thrilled that she is getting less afraid of getting her face wet...makes me think maybe there's hope for swimming after all!

This morning Hannah has been complaining that she has a mosquito bite on her foot. Well she does have a little red mark on her foot, but it's not a huge mark so I didn't think anything about it really. This morning she has also been whining about...well...everything. She was sitting here next to me a few minutes ago and said, "look mama!" So I looked down at her foot and didn't see anything new then went about my business. That's when she started whining again, "oh, oooo uhhh uhhh!" So I looked back at her thinking, what is wrong with you? Apparently she never realize that I had looked at her foot because she looked up and saw me looking at her and said, "no not my face, look at my foot!"

Stating Roll Shoes
That is what Hannah calls them. We got Hannah some "stating roll shoes" that came with elbow and knee pads and we got her a helmet today at Target. She cried when we came home for just a minute and she realized that she wasn't going to get to play with them right away. We had another place to go. Then she fell asleep in the car and stayed asleep until after we got home. When we finally tried waking her up, she didn't want to get up until I reminded her that she hadn't tried her skates out. She was so cute in her skating get up.
She also insisted that someone hold her hands...both of them.
Then she decided that walking on the grass was easy enough to do without needing support!
And finally she said, "I dus want to sit right here! Ah, dat's much better like dat!"
Then she wanted me to get my skates out that I've had since jr. high and skate with her. I would have, but nobody else thought that was a good idea! I can't imagine why. Joey says, "it's not like riding a bike, Shawn. You can forget how to do it." I guess I'll have to try it when Maw Maw and daddy are at work!! Then if I do have to go to the emergency room, they can come home early! Just kidding, just kidding! I'm really not that brave.

O.k. so I've been really bad about blogging the last couple of weeks. Just managing to get a post or two or three in a week. Part of it was because we were sick! There is a nasty cold bug going around here and we caught it. Two weeks ago Hannah and I both were at the doctor. I went back a week later because I wasn't getting better and then we both went back for follow up on Tuesday! Fun times! When I went back last week the doctor put me on some of the same breathing treatments that Hannah takes. Now I know why she behaves the way she does when she has those breathing treatments. They make you so jittery! Don't know if that is really a word, but that's how I felt. Anyway, alas we are feeling better and almost back to our normal selves! Otherwise I guess I was just being lazy! Didn't really have much to blog about (since we've been sick, we haven't done much) and rather than bore you and myself, I just didn't do it.
So in other news...I've been trying to find a ballet/tap class for Hannah to go to...no luck so far. There are plenty of places to take her, but most of them don't let the parents observe and I'm not much on just taking her and dropping her off. Part of the reason I want to take her is because I know she would have a blast, but I also want to take her for my sheer entertainment. I want to watch her do it. Also most of the dance places have classes in the morning and I don't really have that option. So the search continues! I will find the perfect place eventually, but I am anxious to get her in a class.
The nini ban is going...not great, just going. She asks for it during the day and sneaks in to get it on occasion...o.k. at least once a day. But...I am being strong! As much as I want to give her anything and everything she wants, I have withheld the nini...except when she's sneaky and I don't realize she has it. I also started putting them up high in the pantry so that she can't really see or reach them instead of just leaving them in the bed. Oh well, we'll get there eventually!
Maybe next week we will get out a little more and I will have more to post. That's it for now!

Hold Your Breath!
Hannah's newest thing is putting her face in the water. She did it the night before last with her goggles on in the tub and when she swam today, she did it again. The other night in the tub I was trying to get a good picture and she finally told me that she didn't want to do it anymore. I guess she had had enough. I did manage to get a picture or two, but...the only one that I'm willing to put up is this one because I wasn't able to crop the others well enough. Just trust me, she put her whole face in the water!

Oh well, that's what the box said, but I didn't care! I bought it anyway. We went to Walmart last night and I got Hannah an Easy Bake Oven. We were "looking" at the toys as we MUST do every time we go in there and Hannah decided that she needed an Easy Bake Oven. And being the good mommy that I am, I let her talk me into it. Oh well, I thought it would be fun and a good opportunity to teach her about cooking and junk...since we do it so frequently in our home! At first I wasn't sure about it and put it back on the shelf (unbeknownst to Hannah) and kept looking at things on that aisle. Hannah thinking it was in the buggy announced, "I'm ready to dow now!" I knew that she didn't realize the oven wasn't in our buggy so I said, "o.k., let's go then." She had nothing in the basket and I would have been content to leave Walmart without purchasing a toy, but I also knew that I would be witness to a fit when we got home and Hannah realized that she didn't get the toy she thought she had...plus that would be mean. But I played along waiting for her to realize that we didn't have the oven. "Where's my take tookin' dang," she said when she didn't see it in the buggy. I said, "oh, I put it back, I thought we were going to get something else." Tears already! "I was just kidding," I told her! So we went back and got it.
She was so excited about "tookin' sompin'!" We made the cake last night and she ate about half of it. She saved the rest for daddy...after mommy and Maw Maw had a taste! Then this morning she was ready to hit it again and we had to make the sugar cookies. Which she dropped on the floor as soon as they were done. She ate them anyway. Five second rule, right? Right! After dropping them on the floor she had mommy taste them and daddy and Leigh Anne! She asked Joey, "do you like dem when dey brop on de floor? Are dey dood like dat?" Haha, that was after he had tasted them!!!
Ah, the finished product. Sweet success...and chocolate on our face!!! She's adorable!

The Banning Of The Nini!
So we have officially banned the nini. Well, not exactly, but Hannah is only able to have her nini if she is in the bed...because I'm not quite ready to deal with screaming and crying before she goes to sleep. When I'm ready for her to go to sleep, that's it, I'm ready. Perhaps in the near future we will deal with this issue as well. Not now, so don't bother commenting how I should just get rid of it all together. Anyway, she has done really well with this. Occasionally asking for a nini and fussing a little when I told her she couldn't have it unless she was in the bed, but nothing extensive. Today I guess withdrawal set in because she sat in the bed for a good twenty minutes just so that she could have the nini!
I wish I had taken a picture of her when she was in there, but I didn't. ...So you can enjoy this cute picture of Hannah when she was younger with the nini.
