I Wish I Could Have Taken A Picture...

...but if I tried to have her repose for a picture, I could never recreate what Hannah did in the car on the way to church yesterday morning. So...you'll just have to imagine the sweetness! Hannah has been on a kick lately of wanting a real baby! Not a doll that does all kinds of neat things or that you can give a bath to, but a REAL baby. So we told her that she would have to pray for a real baby. This has been going on for about a month and a half now and Hannah's prayers haven't been answered...well, not in the manner that she was hoping anyway. Yesterday on the way to church she was sitting in her carseat pretty quiet when all of the sudden she says, "I wonder when Jesus is dunna dive me a real baby." I could tell she had been pondering some pretty serious thoughts. I told her that I didn't know, but that she should just keep praying for one and she might get one real soon, but it might be when she gets older and has one of her own...she would just need to keep praying and asking God. So she said, "I'm dunna do it right now." And all goes quiet again. A second or two later I looked back to see what she was doing and what I saw was priceless! She was cupping her hands over her mouth as you would when telling a secret and whispering toward her heart! When she saw me looking at her, she looked up, smiled and said, "I asked Him, in my heart!"

How sweet is that?

Happy Birthday, Papa!

Two posts in one day. I was going for 50, but we'll leave the 50 to Hannah's Papa! He turned 50 today! And we had to wish him a happy 50th! Lucky for Papa, I'm too tired to try and put the number 50 in this post 50 times. We hope you had a great birthday, Papa! Hannah loves you very much.

Fall Festival

Tonight was the fall festival at our church. All I can say is that Hannah should sleep very well tonight...which is great because I could use a good night's sleep myself. I didn't even do that much there and I'm sooooo tired. On top of that Hannah didn't get a chance to have a nap today!! But...she has been remarkably well behaved. I am pleased.

I was also glad that she didn't fall asleep in the car on the way home. She would have gotten a quick nap in and been ready to go for the night. Right now she is having a bath (lately she has insisted that daddy give her a bath...I love that!) and she should be ready for bed in just a few short moments!!!

Anyway so I wanted to put a couple of pictures of Hannah up on the blog. The first one is of her going down the slide in the bounce house and here is one of her and her best little buddy, Billy...aka Pooh Bear!! Aren't they adorable?!?!?!?! I think so!!

For some reason I am not able to do the spell check on this post! So if there are errors...sorry, but I'm too tired to go back and look for them myself and fix them!

The Nini & The Flu Shot...Part II

We took Hannah to the doctor today to get her flu shot. She did really well...didn't even cry when she got the shot. And as promised I let her have her nini. What was funny was that before the doctor came in Hannah had her nini and I told her that she'd better put that up or the doctor might take it away because he wouldn't want her to have it. Joey was with us and kept encouraging her to get rid of it before the doctor came in...I think he was worried the doctor would fuss at us for letting her have it. I on the other hand said, let her have it when he comes in and maybe he will tell her she shouldn't have it. Then I don't have to be the bad guy...right?? Well, all this before the doctor came in and when he did come in, he asked Hannah if she would shake his hand. But...she was holding her hands behind her back. I wasn't thinking about the nini anymore and couldn't figure out why she had become so shy all of the sudden. Until I realized what she was holding behind her back. I almost felt bad for her because I could tell that she was really worried about losing the nini for good. The doctor finally gave up on shaking her hand and went about asking us the usual questions. Hannah then got real busy trying to hide her nini. I wasn't really paying that much attention to her as I knew that she wasn't getting into anything, but then I thought, why is she crouching down by my purse that was kind of behind the table. So I looked a little closer and realized that she was crouching down having a little nini time before she stuffed the nini as deep as she could into my purse. Every now and then she would go back over, have a little suck and then cram the nini back into the depths of my purse. She even went as far as to stick her head around the back end of the table to hide what she was doing. That's bad!

Lesson One In...

...the birds and the bees! This past weekend we made a trip to see Joey's grandparents and while we were there Hannah got to see her cousin, Brayden and some of her 2nd cousins, Ramsi and Remie. On Saturday night we had the adventure of having all the kids spend the night at Nanny and Papa's. That is 4 kids in one house. To some of you that may not seem like a lot, but for me who is used to only one child...and a relatively mild mannered one at that, four is a lot of kid for one house! But Hannah had fun none the less. Two girls and two boys!! Now Hannah is well aware that there are differences between boys and girls, but to what extent, I am not sure.
I am sure, however, that she learned of one very important difference this past weekend. With Hannah we have tried to be careful of what she sees and hears enough to try and prevent her from seeing or hearing things that she isn't psychologically ready to deal with. So I don't think she has ever seen a boy...I mean really seen a boy. Until this weekend that is. Somehow or another she managed to walk in on Brayden as he was finishing up his business in the bathroom. Her reaction? "Why does his belly button stick out like dat," she asked. Joey's grandma happened to be in there with them when Hannah walked in. Brayden says, "because I'm a boy!" To which Hannah replies, "oh." And that was it, end of conversation. Hannah was content with that answer and went on her way and didn't seem to give it another thought.

I wonder why she didn't keep asking, "why??" like she normally does!

The Nini And The Flu Shot

So for a little over a month now we've been doing this nini thing where Hannah can only have the nini when she is in bed. I've been trying to come up with a clever way to do away with it for good without it being too terribly traumatic for her (and me). So the other day we were in the car and Hannah asked for her nini and I said no, that she wasn't in the bed so she couldn't have it then. I mentioned to Hannah that a lady at our church is going to have a baby. Detailed below is the conversation that ensued.

Hannah: Tan I hab my nini?
Me: No, you aren't in the bed and you can't have it unless you are in the bed.
Hannah: But, I want my nini now.
Me: Did you know that Miss Jamie is going to have a baby soon and she is going to need a nini? Would you like to give her your nini's for her new baby?
Hannah: (with disgust) No, she tan buy her own nini's at de store!!! 'Tause I want MY nini's.

Well, that was the end of that idea.

Today I decided that I was going to try and find somewhere to get a flu shot. I had hoped to get one for Hannah too, but was unsuccessful. I did manage to get one for myself at CVS though. Normally when we take Hannah to the doctor, she isn't bothered too much by the idea of a shot. She normally doesn't even cry when she gets them. Different story today! When she heard me ask on the phone about flu shots, she said, "I don't want a shot!" And she cried. I guess we are headed into the stage were she remembers that shots really do hurt sometimes. Fun times!! It was her lucky day though because CVS doesn't give them until they are 9 none of her doctors have a supply yet. So she was spared for the time being. Maybe I'll let her have the nini when she gets the shot.

An Early Christmas Present!

Hannah discovered one of her Christmas presents this morning. I had started buying a thing here and there so that we wouldn't have so much to do in December and Hannah found her doll. I had been driving around for a month and a half with that and other things in the back of my car and decided to take the gifts in because Hannah likes to climb around in the car when it's parked and she's out of her seat. So I was going to hide it yesterday morning when she woke up and almost caught me then with it. She hardly ever goes in her room so when I realized that she was getting up, I just kind of stuck the bag in there thinking I would hide it better later. Later never came. I forgot all about the gifts, but Hannah was so kind to remind me this morning. Fortunately she was so excited about the new doll that she didn't even realize the entire bag was full of gifts for her. I almost got away with hiding it again when I distracted her, but the look of disappointment when she thought her new doll had run away was too much. I catered and helped her find it again. Oh well, I was anxious to give it to her anyway...and besides, it just gives me an excuse to buy her another present!

WHY?

WHY, if I never hear that word again, it would be too soon!!! WHY? Because it's Hannah's new favorite word! WHY, don't get me wrong, I'm glad she is inquisitive and smart and learning WHY everything is the way it is...well not everything, but you know. And for every answer, there is a "WHY" to follow! WHY has she been doing this for about 3 weeks now? WHY, I think I'm about to lose my mind (no comments necessary). I wonder WHY she doesn't think it's as funny as I do when I do the same thing to her either. "Atause IT JUST IS," she'll say! WHY, I think, "wow, is that really what I sound like?" What is really terrible is when we're in a store or some other public place and she has asked "WHY" 50 times already and I finally tell her, "because, I don't know and if you ask me "WHY" one more time, I'm going to scream!" Then I feel like the people around me are probably thinking, WHY good grief, she just wants to know WHY! And for some reason Joey thinks it's qWHYte funny to go back and forth with the same two answers like this...

Hannah: WHY is the sky blue?
Joey: Because it isn't green.
Hannah: WHY it isn't green?
Joey: Because it's blue.
Hannah: But WHY is it blue?
Joey: Because it isn't green.

Etc., etc., and I'm not kidding, he will do this in the car to her for 10 minutes! WHY does he do this? WHY? WHY? WHY?

AAAAUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

The Other Ball Game!

I've had this post ready for a FEW days now, but couldn't get the video to work right until last night...then the darn thing wouldn't upload on dropshots...irritating!!! FINALLY!!

On Friday's the guys at our church play softball and when we mentioned going to the game last Friday, Hannah was thrilled at the idea. Until we got there, that is. Don't get me wrong, she had fun while we were there, but she had another kind of ball game in mind. Bowling. She thought we were going bowling last Friday night. When we sat down to watch the game, she looked at us and said, "but I wanted to dow to de ball dame!" She then proceeded to explain what she had in mind. It was the kind of ball game where, "you woll dat ball and knock ober dose dangs," kind of ball game. "Yeah, bowling!!!"

So on Wednesday I took Hannah bowling and this time I remembered to bring the camera. Amazingly the ball only got stuck half way down the aisle 4 times...and only once requiring the help of a worker. The rest of the times I was able to knock the ball with another ball. Hannah's score...59! Probably about as well as I would bowl...Joey can attest!

So yet another video for your enjoyment. In a lot of the pictures you can see Hannah's victory dance that she did after each time she rolled the ball down the aisle! It was fun to watch her do it!

Cutest Rag Doll!

Today we managed to find a costume for Hannah. When we got home and tried it on, she didn't want to take it off. So she took a nap in it. I insisted that she wear something else to dinner, but judging from the resistance I got from her, I think she would have much preferred her costume as her dinner attire. Then when we got home, she really wanted to put it back on! Oh well, at least she'll get my money's worth out of it.

Funny Thing Hannah Said Tonight

Tonight on the way home from dinner, Joey made the comment that ,"whew that's really stinky!" "What," I said. Immediately Hannah chimed in, "MY TOOT?? Is that what is stinky?"

I know, she'll hate me when she's a teenager for sharing that with yall!!

I am the stay at home mommy of Hannah. In addition to taking care of her, I take care of her daddy. Joey, my husband is the pastor at our church and that means that I have to be on my best behavior most of the time!! Actually I'm probably not, but I do try so so hard! Especially at church, but that's only because I'm usually sitting on the front pew!
